Signs Your Copperfield Damper Repair Is Failing

You can also check that the handle moves through its full arc and that the plate actually rotates when you operate it.

What we don’t recommend: attempting to remove a seized cast-iron plate or drilling out corroded frame bolts while working overhead in a confined smoke shelf. The cast iron is heavy, the angles are awkward, and a dropped plate can crack firebrick or damage the liner below.
